    1161 views

You can add a ‘Shutdown’ button to the Start screen in Windows® 8 to make the shutting down process as easy as it was on the earlier versions.

    1. If you are on the Start Screen, go to the desktop.

    2. Right click on the desktop.

    3. Point to “New” and then select “Shortcut” from the menu.

    4. Type “Shutdown.exe –s” in the location bar and then click “Next”.

    5. Type “Shut Down” in the name field for the shortcut and then click “Finish”.

    6. You’ll see the Shutdown shortcut on the desktop. Right click on it and select “Properties”.

    7. Click “Change Icon” and then click “OK” on the confirmation window.

    8. On the “Change Icon” window, select the “Shut Down” icon and then click “OK”.

    9. Click “OK” again to close the “Properties” window.

    10. Right click on the shortcut and select “Cut”.

    11. Open “Explorer” window, type “%appdata%” in the location bar and press “Enter”.

    12. Navigate to: “Microsoft> Windows> Start Menu> Programs” and then paste the shortcut there.

    13. Close the explorer window.

    14. The “Shut down” button will be pinned on the Start Screen.

    P.S.
